I am in the process of buying a Diesel 190XT. SN 16742(1967 I believe) This makes it a series I? Anybody know the weight? Also I saw some traffic on the rear-end. How can you tell if it has had the upgrade from the old D-19 rear-end that caused all the problems? Anything else I should know about this beast? Runs like a champ. Thanks.

It's a series I 1967 with transmission improvements. Would have a 2 pinion rear (smaller) end and small axles unless changed. It will hold up if you don't do any heavy plowing or puuling. There were some dealler installed upgrade kits. Check to made sure it stays in all gears. High gear on some tend to jump out when going downhill. This is a great tractor and usually produce more horsepower than rated at. The book says 7945 lb unweighted.

Got another quetsion.
WE are planning to hog, and pull a an old 6' JD disc but that's it. That Disc should not be a problem with that rear end? Also the guy who owned it prior used a Cat 1 King cutter 6' hog and used bushings to make it fit this Cat 2 tractor. Any recomendations on cheating with a smaller hog? I would worry about burning up a lower rated HP Gearbox. He used this set up for 10 years and never burned this hog up. Ran it at about 2200. Any comments?

I guess it depends on the hp rating of the gearbox. It would probably be wise to put a slip clutch on the cutter if it doesn't already.
The disc should not be a problem.
