Thanks for all the replys,it does have a curved shifter so it must be the WD with the WD45 trans,
That works for me,just a new hobby for me,just happy to have another tractor.
And thanks to you guys I will have the correct decals on it when Im done lol

You can't always believe the decals...check for a large rectangular plate on the RH side of the engine. If it has one it is a WD. The WDs were made along with the WD45 in '53. It was basically a WD45 with a WD motor in it....guess they had a few extras to get rid of.

Although both WD and WD45's were made in 1953, no WD's were made after WD45 production started. THe last WD was serial number WD146606 and the first WD45 was WD146607.

If you have a 6 digit serial number that starts with 144XXX you have a 53 WD. It will have the 45 transmission and some joker probably put 45 decals on it. The last WD serial number is WD 146606

In regards to your comment about the WD having the 45 transmission, I believe you have it backwards. The first 45's had the WD transmission, which is easily identified by the straight shifter handle. These tranny's used the two disc wet clutch, which was upgraded to a three disc wet clutch when the 45 transmission came out, to better handle the extra power.

It sounds to me as if this guy has one of the last WD's, according to the ser. #.

He shouldn't be too disappointed, they were both great tractors, I own one of each.

Good Day!

My Bad! I was the one who has it backwards. The last WD's, after ser # 127006, got the new transmission, with curved shifter, 3 disc clutch, and constant-mesh gears.

Sorry to have put bad info out there!

Good Day!
