I recently purchased a WD45 from my neighbor. He had owned it for 28 years and all he did with it is move snow. So when I got it I thought I would be smart and change all of the fluids, everything went fine until changed the engine oil. I changed the oil and filter and srarted it up and watched the oil pressure guage for it to come up, after about 20 seconds it come up maybe an 1\8 of an inch where before I changed it it come a good half inch. Am I missing something or did I end up with a lemon?

I bet it is not an Allis Chalmers (Agco)oil filter. They are very touchy, and will only carry correct oil pressure with an AC filter. Hope this will help you.

I have forwarded this to my supplier. He seemed interested in finding out why they didn't redesign them to increase the oil pressure. Thanks Rod for your help I thought that I may have something bad wrong with the old girl.

Mike, Been some talk about oil filter makers making bad filters that do just what you described. DO NOT RUN this tractor until you get the right one. Agco's are right or Car Quest C-159(Fram).Dale

Mike, Dale is correct with the oil filter problem. Seems the Wix & Napa filters (same filter if that's what you happen to use) have a new internal design which dropped the oil pressure drastically. Frams are okay so far, along with some of the other aftermarket filters that are available for that engine.

Even Wix? I put a Wix filter on my WD last fall. I had no problems with it. It was a string type filter with a dowel rod shoved through the center to keep the hole open. Did I just luck out and get an old filter, or is there more than one Wix filter that will fit? My oil pressure is good even after working the tractor in 100 deg. heat for a couple of hours. I'm running 30wt oil.

I have been given a 1937 or 1938 Allis Chalmers WC. Is there a "WC"?

Also, I have convinced the organizers of the Dallas, Oregon Summerfest and car show to have a tractor show at the next year car show. Last weekend of July. Anyone interested?

It did happen to be a WIX filter that I had put on.
