I have a 52 CA. I am starting to use the hydraulics for the plow and have now come across a problem. The hyraulic pump/lever does not work. The PTO/Pulley works. I removed the hose from one of the cylinders and no hyd fluid came out. I then pulled the drain plug out of the bottom of the pump and mostly water came out. Then I drained the main hydraulic reservoir and milky white hydraulic fluid came out. What should be my next move? Please help.

Once water gets in the pump the check balls will stick and it won't pump. Take the pump off the tractor and take it all apart and clean everything up good. Watch out for flying balls and springs. Use air to blow out any balls that might be stuck in the passages. Remember how it went together....but it is pretty simple. Put in new trans/hydraulic fluid. I did the whole job in 2 hours on my CA.

Thanks for your input. I'll try it.

How do I prime the pump once it is together?

Thanks

I can't remember having to prime it. I think I did fill the cylinder hoses with oil when I put them back on. If there is a problem when you get it together I think if you would pull up on the lift arms with the pump running it would help the pump prime itself.

Eldon,
thanks for your help on the hydraulics. It worked.

How would I be able to find a new gear shift boot since mine is completely worn out?

Thanks
