Henk, Sometimes the crankshaft wick that lubricates the pilot bushing on the flywheel allows oil to get all over the clutch mechanism. Dust, oil, and time will make for some pretty serious crude to bill up in that area. Might get a couple of cans of brake clean or electric motor cleaner, remove the starter and spray clean that area real good. Just something simple to try first. Dale

I agree with Dale. probably oil stuck to the plate. a simple solution i have used is pull the starter and spray 2 gallons of water/ dishwasher fluid or liquid soap on the clutch and plate. rotate the motor 1/4 turn and keep going. you cant used too much. have someone hold in the clutch while you spray so it gets all over. there is a 2 inch hole inthe bottom that everything runs out. make sure it is open. poke a screw driver in the hole and wallow it out. spray in out after 15 minutes with the garden hose. it took 40 years to buildup. you might have to do it again in 10 years.

Thanks for the input I have tried to spray it out with 150 psi but it still doesn't work I was going to split the tractor but first I will try the soap trick and the one thing that I didn't do and that was to keep the clutch pressed in

thanks for the info .
