Looking at a 170 allis. It is a diesel, 2 remotes, needs paint, rear tires 50%. He's asking $5250, it's in PA. Is that fair price? or high? Are these tractors noted for any problems?

i believe on your description that around $4000 would be top $ considering hours and service stats.they have a tendancy to have transmissionsthat will junp out of gear. and in cold weather very hard to start without help.also they havebad design on battery location as it will ruin the electrical connections.and when the guages dont work its easy to have major problems!! i speak with experience.as far as handling and useage they are user friendly . just my two cents worth!!!

I have a 170 gas that I bought about 15 years ago. It had a fresh rebuilt motor, new paint, new tire chains,a good loader with snow bucket and a new bale spear. The tire were about 50%. I paid $6000 including having it delivered 50 miles.

Dont know about problems but $3500-$4000 would be tops in my book.

A 170 gas will bring close to $6,000 her in S-C PA.... a diesel is worth more than that. good little tractor.

I agree with Dave, that 3500-4000 is about right. Want to check for the transmission jumping out of gear and that the hand clutch is tight.
