Floating crank shaft?

I have an AC 6140 that seems to have clutch problems. I need to keep adjusting the clutch up to keep the free play where it's supposed to be but, two summers we had it apart and the clutches are fine. Someone said that in some AC's the crank shafts could actually float back and forth and that AC made a kit to fix it. Has anyone else had this trouble and do they make a fix? Also how much does this cost and how does it work? Thanks in advance for any help.

I of a 6060 that had that problem. The kit was a bracket and bearing that went on the front of the motor that held the crank back and stopped it from floating. The guy heard about it from the people he had rebuild the engine. This is after he had put several clutches in it by the dealer he bought it from, and was told that a service bulletin came out on it and it was supposed to be a dealer fix. By that time the dealer was out of business.
