seems to start hard,has mag,turns over very fast,just seems as though the trhottlr ahs to be very low to get her to start -even then take a few spins to make it catch,Ideas?

Check the point gap. Should be .020 to be exact. If they're a tick on the tight side, might be your problem. Also, make sure they're clean. A little tuner cleaner or Brakekleen works to get an moisture off the contacts. Timing might be a tick off also... HTH

Steve: where is the diagram you posted for wiring on this model, I am considering a 12 volt alt & want to clean up the wiring while I am at it.

lloyd, Duey schutter has some great diagrams on his website you can look at if you want to redo the wiring yourself. If he see's your post, I'm sure he'll send it to ya. If yer' lookin' for a complete 12V conversion w/alternator brackets, we can fix ya up with a nice kit. Not sure how to send ya his site or pix yet. Still learnin' on this thing....
