help, new engine, rebuild carb, rebuilt dist w/electronic ignition my brother said get a new carb dont want to spend 200 if i dont have to thanks in advance p.s. between isdle and under load does not run smooth

Does it miss at high idle, or just under fill power pulling a load?? If you can not go to full speed just setting still in neutral, maybe the advance in the distributor or governor is sticking? What does the timing light say the timing is at 1500 RPM? If it just does it under load, and o.k. when you back off, then it is probably lack of fuel. Check all jets and passage ways in the carb, check the float level, and make sure the filter and line to the carb, and tank are clean and flow well.
