I have a small B and it has no hydraulic system. Considered purchasing the factory pump, but have another idea. Generator is bad, how about remove it and install a small alternator, and a steering pump off a ford truck, one above the other. Motor would belt drive pump. If not enough room, the alternaotr would be driven off amother small belt to the pump (two pulleys on pump). Would not expect a lot of volume or pressure, just enough to lift belly mower cylinder and maybe a small 3 point. Any body ever tryed to use an automotive type steering pump for hydraulics???

Over on the Ford Board, look up Zane's "Live Thang". It basically involves using an older GM unit that combined a generator with a power steering pump. They built such a unit in the late 50's early 60's.

Mounts would be a lot esier to fabricate for that.

I have seen that done on pickups to use a bale carrier. I think it could be done and that it is a good idea since it would give you live hydraulics. Go for it and good luck. Let us know how it turned out. As an after thought a ower steering pump from an old WD45 might be an easier fit. In either case you wil probably need an extra resivore.
