Identify this AC ?

I just bought an AC, and the man told me it was a 1941 model b, and has an arched front axle. Also it has a seat on it similar to an RC model I saw. Is this original or did it come with a bench seat? And the battery is mounted to the left rear of the seat? The serial number is 1B2069. Thanks, Steve

Could be you bought a B front bolted onto a CA (or some other model) rear. There are some of those around, I saw one when I went to look at a "widw front" CA for sale last year.

It does kind of sound like you have an IB. Look in the Tractor Talk forum under "Fast Tractors" I just saw a picture that a guy had posted with him an IB and a "Custom C".

The tel tale that it is an IB is a C channel frame that surounds the engine.

the IB can not be equipped with an arched axle since it is 6 inches too tall. Could be a combination of the two however.

All of the B tractors came with the bench seat. The arch axle was the "standard" front end. There were a few others. B units started build in 1937 and stopped about 1958. Lots of them built. Thes serial number is by the shhift lever, starts with B, not 1. The battery was under the steering column behind the gas tank. Maybe yours was not equipped with a starter or battery in the beginning and it was added later. I can send you a photo of a B with battery and without and you can see the difference in the sheetmetal below the gas tank. If you have other questions, just ask.

THERE IS A MODEL IB. IT IS AN INDUSTRIAL B. BUT IT DOESN'T HAVE A ARCHED FRONT AXEL. IT ALSO HAS THE REAR DROP DRIVES ROTATED FORWARD TO LOWER IT AND IT IS SHORTER,MOVING THE BATTERY TO THE SIDE AS ON A WC. COULD BE YOU HAVE A B WITH A IB TRANSMISSION, HENCE A IB SERIAL#. OR YOU HAVE A IB THAT HAD OTHER ALTERATIONS. GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR TRACTOR. BOB
P.S. IB'S HAD A SEAT LIKE THE WC/RC
