right or left hand thread?

I need to remove the rear wheels on my model B, I was able to remove the large nut on the right side of the tractor, with much effort. But i can't seem to budge the nut on the left side, could it have a left hand thread?

It's right hand. For some reason the threads on the nut rust and grow badly.

Try alternating heat and penetrant. I took mine off with a 24" pipe wrench, a 3' cheater, an acetylene torch, and PB blaster.

The nuts inside the final drive are the same size and thread. If you make a wrench to fit them (most wrenches that size are too thick to get in the space) you can salvage a couple from a cracked finals in the junk-yard and use them. They will screw on much easeir than the one you had trouble with, plus look better than the one you beat off.

Hi Gary,

I replaced the lockwasher on my '42 B left wheel last winter. It's a standard right hand thread. Took a standard lockwasher OK. I did need to heat the nut with a torch to get it to break loose. You probably just need some heat.

and a tight fitting wrench and a big hammer. dont just apply a big wrench and "pull". beat it hard with a hammer for the shock load. YOu might need to cut out a wrench from 1/2 inch plate to get a "box" wrench, if you are using an old pipe wrench or cresent. They might work, but not on a real tight one.
