HELP!! WD45 is locked in 1st gear

While doing some brushhogging with my wd45 tonight, it locked itself in 1st gear. The shifter does not have a lot of play in it like a broken shifter fork (or ball on the bottom of the shifter, if that is how this one is), but I can't get it out of 1st gear. Anyone have any idea what I might have done and how to fix it? Thanks.

Sounds like the WD shifter ghost. You will probably have to pop the retaining ring under the shifter boot and remove the shift lever. Look inside with a light to see where your shift lug is. Use a long screwdriver to set it back to nuetral. Place your lever back in. When you have the shifter out. You can build it back up with weld if it's worn. I have rebuilt enough now that I should do it as a side job. Seems to be more rewarding than my DAY job!

And while you have the shifter out be carefull not to knock the little keys that keep the shift lever from turning, into the transmission.
