Just bought a WD

I just bought a WD with loader. The loader is made of steel tubing, trip bucket. Is this an AC product? I cannot find a serial number on the tractor. It has been converted to 12 volt with an alternator. The tractor starts good, but the guy says to run it at half choke. It has a lot of governer lurch, which he said it didn't do that until he power washed it off to sell. I'd like to get it purring nice first. The tractor is in nice shape, brush painted bright orange with no decals, I'll get to that later. Where do I start with the carb and governer?

If there's been a pressure washer anywhere near it check the front wheelbearings!

The best place to start is to get a reprint of an AC repair manual, and owners manual. Then change ALL the oils, engine, hydraulic, transmission, final drives. Make sure the boot on the shift lever is in good shape, especially of the tractor will ever be out in the weather. Water can get into the transmision here if the boot is cracked or gone. Even if you are a mechanic you will find information in these manuals that will be interesting and usefull.

1/2 choke means the carb is not putting out enough gas to run. Probably needs rebuilt. Possibly it is intake manifold gasket leak. Should check that also.

Try turning out the power jet screw at the bottom of the carb 1/4 turn at a time to see if that helps. I've also taken it out and put a shot of compressed air in the hole to clean it out.

Loader was probably made for AC by Freeman. There is usually a tag on the lh side loader arm.
