I have a 43 Wc, and a D-17/combine motor. is it better to put the bigger crank in the wc block? or just drop the d-17 motor in the chassis? thanks, don

Putting the combine motor in the WC is no problem whatsoever. Only thing you will have to do is make a plate to cover the fuel pump hole in the side of the block. We've done a bunch of times on pulling tractors.

And don't worry about the drive train. They'll hold at least 90 hp or better.

I would be concerned about the strain that much extra HP would put on the drive train and chassis.

Don, I believe the D17 combine has bigger mains than the WC and the 45. H.B.

I would put the whole engine in. Save the WC engine, store it carefully with lots of clean oil in it, bar it over once or twice a year. You may someday want to return the WC to original. Is it old enough to be unstyled? If so I would definately keep the WC engine around, even though you will like all the power of the D-17.

ues the D17 motor. more horsepower, bigger pistons and more improvements. will take a littel more time to install, but worth it in the long run.
