How do A.C.'s measure up?

Hi Folks, I bought my B about a year ago off a gentleman who farmed most of his life. He told me that "generally speaking, the Allis Chalmers tractors (all sizes)had the most horsepower per pound than the rest did." Is this true? This guy had every color of the rainbow in his barn too, so I considered what he said. I want to know if this is true because I have some J.D. friends that make fun of my Allis! Thanks! Yes, ACs do have a good amount of HP. And you don't need to take any ^&*( from the green guys. They are good tractors too. But weight for weight ACs will out power them. They do have a lot of pulling power, but some of it comes from low gears. Now I don't want to start a color war here either. I like green tractors too, but it is a fact that ACs were and are known for being "snappy". Check out some of the power figures and other statistics for yourself. Get yourself a reprint of the factory AC operators and service manual for your B and learn a lot about it too. Change the oils in the transmission AND reduction gears if you haven't already. Especially the reduction gears, a lot of people just sort of forget they exist.

The green guys are just envious. When they finaly saw the light they started seeing the lite they put 4 & 6 cyl. in their tractors also.(1960)

AC's are good!I had a (G)and a (M)and (MT)John Deere that I used mowing for the city and couldn't use them all in the same field.The (G) mowed in third gear and I had to use second for the J D's which made the (G) go four rounds to the J D s three.
