Hello.
I would like to know what is stock rpm for a 1950 IB? Has anyone ever tried to get a few more rpm's out of these motors? Does the transmission and rear end share the same oil?

A quick and easy way to get more RPM's without any adjustments is to sawp the governor spring with a heavyer hardware spring the same length. That way you can put the correct spring back on in a few seconds. I have about six different springs in my tool box so I can change the high RPM,s to what the rules say at the different pulls. If their is no RPM rules I have a spring that will bring my C up to just over 2000 RPM's
If you want to use the same spring that is on your tractor now, you can bend the crossover arm from the governor to get the desired RPM's. If you bend the arm to far you will get runaway (uncontroled above idle) RPM's Easy to correct just bend it back.

Yes you can speed up a B engine. That is how they got more Hp for the CA. The CA used the same engine they just increased the RPM.

Ask about what the top RPM is for a CA and that would be safe.

it is the smae motor used in the B tractor. I think the older ones were 1500, and later the top rpm was 1650. Mine has plenty of power for the weight, why would you want more RPM? It wont hurt to go to 1800, but i would not go much above that unless you need the HP for puller and not worried about 40 year life. as for the oil, yes, the transmission, hydraulics, and pto are the same cavity. you fil by the 1 inch pipe plug by your left foor in transmission. there are 3 plugs on the bottom, 1/2 inch pipe, one in each cavity. It takes 8 quarts total and i would use a good 20 wt trans-hydraulic oil. You can get a 2.5 gallon plastic jug at Wal Mart or Farm Store for $12.00

Hello Steve.
Thanks for the info. To answer your question about why I want to turn more rpm's. I use this tractor in tractor driving compititions. I think at times it would be nice to be able to turn more rpms, so that the tractor could move a little bit faster. I dont have a option of running in a higher gear in reverse when im trying to back a wagon, etc. This would only be in short spurts or less than 10 seconds or so.
