Allis B Clutch Sizes

I'm getting ready to replace the clutch in my 1948 Model B. Owner's manual says the clutch is 8 1/2 inches, but I notice there are two clutch kits available; 8 1/2 and 9 inches. Does it matter? Any advantages? 9 inch clutch kit runs a bit less expensive, too.
Thanks ahead of time for any input.

Thanks, everyone, for your follow ups! I've done some more research and found in the Service Manual that early engine'd B's had 9 inch clutches and the vast majority are 8 1/2 inch. After splitting mine...it's 8 1/2 inch.

Thanks, again!

The parts book lists both sizes. Depends on the serial number as there is no cut off just listed by s/n. Post yours and I will look it up.

Parts book lists only one flywheel for an electric start B so both clutches must use the same bolt pattern. Not impossible.I would find out costs and availability. A bigger clutch would wear longer and pull harder.

As you probably realize, this is the diameter of the clutch disc. You're going to have to know which one you have before you order. Why, Cause the bolt pattern on the flywheel will not be the same. They are not going to be interchangeable. Regards, Rich
