I have been making up a list of different parts that I need for my '39 Allis B restoration. Serial # B29743. I have been going through the parts book and identifing those different parts to order or find. My Allis steering gear has a seal at the lever shaft, part # 224955. Previous owner of my Allis wrapped a single stran of bailing wire around and around the shaft between the washer and the steering arm. My AGCO dealer says the seal is NLA. So I don't have an old seal to try and match up. What can you all advise? Thanks a bunch!--JPM

John, I should have that seal in stock. I believe that's for the Ross style Pitman arm? I'll check for you. Also, I think you were looking for the front cover seal? I have them in stock also. I'm sorry I didn't get back to you. The ole' memory isn't like it used to be. Drop us a line if interested...

Hi John,

AC part #224955 crosses to National Oil Seal #240414. See this interchange listing. You can try and get that at any local distributor of power transmission equipment. It is a nitrile rubber lip seal, according to National. That AC part number supercedes AC #210465 per the later B parts manual. The older parts manual for the early Bs indicates this seal (210465) to be a cork washer. I can see why it was replaced with a lip seal. I hate those cork washer type seals :o).
