A friend has a "B" with a carb. with no main jet adjustment. Is this "normal"? His tractor is running very "rich". The float level is the only thing we can think of to adjust. Anyone have experience with this type of carb. on a model "B"?

Yup, the early B carbs had a fixed main jet. Later versions had a needle valve adjustment that screwed into the plug hole behind the main jet. You should be able to get a replacement and modify an earlier version.

I have one of each carb styles and the fixed jetted one definately runs rich.
