I have an opportunity to purchase around a 1950 WD-45. It has PTO and Hydralics but no three pt hitch. It has hydraulic power to what looks like a rock shaft with two arms on it but thats it. It almost looks like the hitch has been removed. What does the tractor need and how much will it cost me to get a hitch put on this? I'd like to use it for brush hogging. Thanks for any info.

I bought one from OK tractor for my 1957 WD45. Perfect fit and finish. Jim Danforth was more than kind enough to answer any questions I had about installation. It seems that I paid around $325.00 (2 yrs ago) shipped to my house ready to install. Getting ready to sickle bar some hay and that 3 pt will once again prove very handy.

Randy--there's one on ebay right now--Item # 2539362638. It's opening bid is $225, but it'll have to get higher to clear the reserve price.

If it was a 1950, it was a WD, the 45 didn't come along till 54 I think. Same tractor, 35 hp instead of 43. And a few other minor things. Still a good tractor.

Also whats a good price for this tractor? Its looks in good condition, starts good, no smoke,
tires look good. He wants $1,800. I need to see if he will take less because of 3pt conversion cost.

There is a guy that makes custom hitches but I'll have to look up his name. Believe they are about $500 which is what any decent new one will cost. E-mail me if you want mre info

Randy,

A 3-pt hitch is easilly installed on a WD45. My neighbor has a WD with 3-pt and we have a '58 D17 with the same setup. Used--$150, new $275 and up. I'm on a road trip right now, but when I get to the house I can send plenty of photos.

BTW, be careful of the size of bushhog used on that tractor. The PTO drive gears won't take much abuse and are prone to breakage if you hit an obstruction. A slip clutch on the bushhog is highly recommended. If you're in a "clean" field with no stumps or anything, you'll be OK with a 5' or 6' but for rough stuff, I'd stay 5' or less.

I just called a local tractor supply store here in Madison Wi. and they want $600.00 for a 3 pt. conversion kit. Seems kind of steep, Does anyone sell one for less somewhere else?

In my recent salvage yard visit I saw a complete three point set-up that must have been on an AC tractor. Looks like it would bolt up to a WD.. Try www.junktractors.com tell them it was near the 469 haybines...

I bought mine at saginawcountrytractors.com it comes with sway bars. I like it just fine
