In his post down below he made the statement about the tractor he just bought when he said words to the effect It was what I wanted I could afford it so I bought it. I would say he made a good purchase.

Me too! And he is right. Although the tractor jockeys and rail birds might say he paid a bit much for $4,500.00, he bought a tractor that can do most anything a $15,000.00(?) new one can do and will probably last as long or longer so a good buy it is. Big darn difference between collecting and using value aint there Sid? Welcome to Allis land Randall.

Thanks, guys! I'm not a collector and the old girl runs well. I used it last weekend to grade my road and move some bales around. What is a tractor like this worth as a collector? It is a D-17 Serial #9838

I saw 4 sell at a consignment auction in May in central IL. They were not restored but appeared to be in good working and fair cosmetic shape. They went for between $3200 and $3800 I think 1 or 2 were no sales. I ended up buying a 1963 D-19 for $1810 I think it went cheap because it's too large for most people to get on a trailer. A carb rebuild and addition of a 3-point hitch and it is serving me well mowing and digging post holes so far. Good luck.
