I have a AC model C that I am just starting to restore. I see photos of restored tractors with mufflers that stick up out of the hood about 2 feet, but the images in my original manuals show no muffler sticking up at all. Which is correct? And where would I get an original type muffler?

Fred, We stock Walkers version. So far, seems like a pretty good muffler. Tight seams, pretty heafty. Some of our customers are running them, and no complaints so far. We have an optional rain cap that we fit to em' also. Drop us a line if interested...

AC went to above hood muffer for a reason, on B's & C's. What was the real reason? Cheeper or better? It seems My C runs a little better with tall one. I gave up on under hood one beacuse it did not fit. New one is stanley to. both are s##t, what ever you get, get nelson. My stanley is 2 months old, and is rusting out at seams already, even with rain cap. short one wont catch on branches.

If you have the small hole in your hood, the correct one would be the under-hood muffler. The good ones are expensive, the ones made by Stanley don't always fit right and and may burn the paint off the hood.
You can still use the tall muffler, but you have to remove it to take off the hood.
