Wd 45 shift lever

I have an 1955 wd 45 with shiting problems I have the top cover off the shifting rods stop in there indents the bottom end of lever has been built up with brazing rod what is the size of this square or rectangle??? The transmission jumps out of gear and i was told that i should focus on lever rebuild thank you for any help vern

If the transmission jumpsout of gear it isn't the shifter. It is the surfaces of the dogs that engage the mating surface on each gear. If they get too rounded from grinding as you shift they can start to jump out of gear, only fix I know is to replace. If the shift lever gets out of the slots it rides in and you can't shift it, now you have a shift lever problem. Do you only hve the problem with one or two gears? Usually this problem starts with only one gear, the one that got used and therefore ground the most.
