I had two B engines that had seized. one when I got her home and one during restoration it was always gonna seize on reflection. I took the head off cleaned out all the water and I emptied all the oil and filled it up with deisel right to the top and poured desiel in to the cylinders then put her in 3rd gear and everyday when I would head off to work I would just give it a rock. I also tapped the pistons with a block of wood around the edges as well. one day it just freed up. check the rings for rust and sleeves for pitting -I eventually had to pull mine right down sleeves out and pistons out as the rings can rust to the piston. be carefull as with a tickle here and there and lots of good luck you can free them. it is a good idea to take the pistons out and sleeves out as more than likely you will find a big buildup of 50 years of sediment in the water that settles around the number 4 piston being the lowest point (mine was full and it was dry - no water had got in there for a while) and the o rings that secure the sleeves will have perished. a sure sign is when you hand crank her over you will hear a kinda squeak and may even notice movement in the sleeve at the top of the block. better to do it right and that way you wont have to pull it down again later on. good luck

Scott, Before I bought my B, it had sat outside for about 5 years. The muffler rotted off it, and even though the previous owner had tarps thrown over it, (later Mother Nature did them in) it still had water in two cylinders. When I pulled the head off I got a bath with the water running down the side of the engine. Those cylinders were filled right to the top too! Wound up tearing it down anyway and putting in sleeve kits. She purrs now. Hope yours isn't that bad, and you can get it free. Some will run fine later, if they're not stuck to tight....

it's probably only seized on two cylinders. If you can figure out which two and get whatever water is in them, out, You can then put kerosene or PB blaster in the cylinder and let it sit for a day or two. If this doesn't work, You're going to have to tear it down. Either way. I think it's fair to say that you've shortened the time till it's next rebuild.
It's very likely that the cylinders may have some pitting where the rings are rusted fast. Here's a little tip. When I worked in a marina years ago, To winterize an engine, we would disconnect the gas line while it was running and shoot a 50/50 gas/oil mixture into the carburetor seconds before the engine ran out of gas. This would give the inside of the engine a nice coating of oil and keep things rust free till the spring. It worked every time and we had no problems in the spring with restarts. Regards, Rich
