Wd hydralic oil

my wd owners manuel recommends sae 10w or sae 20w depending on the outside temp. do they mean motor oil? this is for the hydralic system. any help would be appreciated. thanks

As Gorden states it MUST be a non detergent oil, any good motor oil that is non-detergent is fine. Here in Florida where it is pretty hot I use non-detergent 30W oil in both the engine and the Hyd with no problems.

Wayne: Yes, they mean engine oil but it must be non-detergent oil so that it doesn't foam when in use. As an alternative to non-detergent engine oil, you can use a modern universal hydraulic-transmission oil with no problems. I hope that this information helps. Have a good day. Gordon
