I just picked up a WC today. I went to the machine shop to check on the block for my John Deere 50 and on the way home there was a WC setting out by the road. The sign on it said "free - must take all". Didn't take me long to "take all". It's rough and is going to need a lot of work. My question is where do you find the serial number on it? Dad had WC when I was a boy it seems like I remember the number being stamped on the rear axle, but I don't see a number on this one. Maybe I just need to look more carefully.
Thanks, Dave

There is a relatively flat surface on the rear of the pumpkin, near the top, and the serial number in that area should start with WC. Might need to scrape paint, rust, etc.

Thanks, I found the serial number with a little help from a wire wheel on the angle grinder. Looks like it's a 1945 model according to the chart on this site.

Thanks, Dave
