Can the outside bearing located behind the throw out bearing housing be removed without teaing into the transmission? It appears that there is a snap ring that holds it in place. As I have rebuilt the engine, it seems like the time to do it. This is the roller bearing that helps hold the transmission output shaft in place. This is for the rear engine G tractor..Thanks, Mark

Mark: No, you can not remove the clutch shaft bearing without removing the clutch housing from the transmission housing. The reason I say this is because I have tried it several times without success. The bearing will come out the front, but the problem is, the bearing is a press fit on the clutch shaft and I have never been able to get it off the shaft without removing the bearing and shaft as a unit and this can not be done without separating the clutch and transmission housings. Do not try to force the shaft and bearing as one unit out the front of the case. There is an oil slinger ring attached to the gear that will not past through the hole in the clutch housing and this is the reason I have always had to separate the clutch and trans housings. But try and see if your bearing will slide off the shaft, you may be lucky and the bearing will come off the shaft easily.
