About a month ago I posted a question about an Allis Chalmers model C that I had bought. Thanks to some replys, some of my question got answered.
Now that I have most of the pieces home and a parts catalog, I have more questions.
I checked the serial number, 39922, and the info on this site said that it is a 1947 model.
I have a distributor in the parts box that came with the tractor but the parts catalog shows a mag. I am guessing that some one replaced it with a distributor from a CA maybe?
And the last question for today, I notice that the ring gear has several worn spots on it. Can it be removed and flipped on the other side?
Thanks for any info anyone can give me, Eric Perry

Back in the late 40's dad installed an after market distributor on our C. I don't remember the reason but we played with the hot magneto for years talking company to snap it over while holding it.
As far as the ring gear, I have flipped them over when I could not get one at the time I was ready to assemble the tractor. I clamp it in the vise and grind a bevel on each tooth with a small angle grinder. Takes a little bit but works just find.
