Purchased a 1940 Allis Chalmers today. Do not have any information on this type of tractor. Does have a starter and battery for starting purposes only. Hand brakes, lever on one side is missing. Is there information available for this rebuild?. Thanks, Murray

Best to go to "Tractor Photos" over on the left column and try to find out what you have first, then it will be a lot easier to find the info. for your particular tractor or else post a photo of it so someone can ID it for you.

Murray, as a guy that was in your shoes about 11 months ago, I can tell you that there is LOTS of information available to restored that baby. With a little time, here on the internet, all sorts of good information is available. There are many Allis publications still available from your Agi Allis dealers. I've bought some there and some I've bought on the e.bay action. I'll tell you this, dont get in a hurry buying those manuals that are on e.bay. They keep coming back again and again. The reason is because they are copying machine copies. They still have the info you want though. Aslo, books stores sometimes have data books. The fact that you came to the discussion board shows that you have a damn good head on your shoulders. Best of luck to you. That feeling to bring that girl back to life again is awesome.

if it has two c-channels runnin down each side of the motor from rear fenders to the radiator, it is probably a WC. If it has no frame and the torque tube is the backbone holding the transmission to the motor, then it is a model B. serial number of the little B is by the trans shift lever. Serial number on the WC is on the center rear axle pumpkin. I will send you a couple photos and you pick. Yes there are parts. figure out what you have and waht you are trying to fix and post again.

Could also be an RC- WC frame and B/C style engine. Serial number on the rear side of the pumpkin should ID it with the two letters.
