MY D15 11 STARTER NEEDS REPLACED. TRACTOR IS SHEDDED ON A ACREAGE I DON'T LIVE ON. THEREFORE, I'LL HAUL THE TOOL BOX DOWN TO TAKE THE OLD STARTER OUT. ANY SPECIAL TOOLS NEEDED TO DO THIS OR QUIRKS I NEED TO KNOW BEFORE. WHEN IT WENT OUT LAST WEEKEND I DIDN'T HAVE MY TOOLBOX TO TAKE THE SIDE PANELS OFF AND LOOK.

Hey, just wondering how your starter project went? I need to pull the one off our diesel D-15. Feel sure it could stand a rebuild. Hope all went well.

CAME OUT EASY. MINE HAS A LARGE "SET SCREW" ON THE RIGHT SIDE THAT GOES THROUGH THE ENGINE CASING INTO THE STARTER TO HOLD IT IN PLACE. I REMOVED THAT AND WITH A FAIR AMOUNT OF SIDE TO SIDE FORCE IT FINALLY CAME OUT. HAVEN'T HAD IT REBUILT YET. I'LL SEE WHAT THE COST OF THAT IS VS
BUYING A REBUILD AT A LOCAL TRACTOR PARTS WAREHOUSE.

Thanks for the set screw tip. I need to pull ours and get it rebuilt. Gotta be worn out as we've had this D-15 over 20 years and never touched the starter.
