use only AC or autolite plugs. Don't use Champion plugs unless you enjoy troubleshooting ignition problems in your spare time.

Here goes the Ford and Chevy thing, sorry. With over twenty engines operating on our farm, it was ALL Champion plugs, with great service; except the AC WD. It has been a few years but my recollection was AC 45s. I don't even know if that is still a good number. It certainly is absurd, but that allis would eat a set of champion plugs in no time, the ACs worked great.

The AC 45 was the correct number but it is no longer made. You can get an R45 (resistor type). However, over the last several years the AC plugs of the type used in the old tractors have been made in Mexico and my experience is that they don't work as well as the old ones. The Autolites work well.
