What's a fair price for this AC WD?

For the last 3 years, we have lived next to a property that has an Allis Chalmers WD sitting on it. I have only seen someone on the property one time and did not get a chance to talk to them. I have found out the address of the person who lives there and am planning on writing to ask him how much he would sell the tractor for. The tractor has been sitting outside for at least three years, is rusty, has a three-point hitch on it, the tires are ok but not great, fenders, and there is a flapper on the smoke stack. There are a number of three-point hitch attachments laying next to the tractor including a 5' or 6' bush hog, a disc and a two-row plow. Can someone give me a rough idea of what is a fair price to offer for all of this?

There are an awfull lot of variables here. Unless you can find out the general condition of the tractor it would be pretty hard to give a decent figure. If the engine is not stuck that is a plus. Probably has water in the tranny and if you are in a cold area that would be freezing every winter. If a lot of water, something may be cracked. Same with cooling system. I would say consider it a parts tractor until you know better and offer maybe $200 to $400 for it. If it runs and is in good shape mechanically he could get about $1000. As for the implements you have to judge what they are worth to you. As everything in this hobby it comes down to what it's worth to you and having the seller feel he got a fair shake also. Start low with your offer and feel him out but don't go too high till you know the total condition of the tractor and how much you are willing and able to put in it. Just about any condition can be restored with time and money.
