I'm having troulbe with the wiring on a C allis. All the wires were disconnected when I got the tractor. I have followed the wiring diagram and yet when I start the tractor the guage shows full charge no matter where the light switch is positioned. The light switch seems to test out ok when the switch is pulled in and out showing about 7 volts on the terminal that the lights would connect to. But when the switch is in I still seem to get full charge. The generator gets quite warm also after 15 minutes of running

If the wire from the field is shorted, it may cause the problem you describe.
