I have an AC D14. When I bought it, it came with a 3 bottom plow. I removed the third bottom since it was too much work for the D14 to pull 3 bottoms in sod. Now my shares and landsides are pretty badly worn and I need some new ones,, but I don't know if they are 14's or 16 inch shares. I'm not sure how to measure the shares so I get the right size. I can't find any numbers on the shares. If anyone can help me with the proper way to measure the shares I would appreciate your help.. Also, if anyone knows of a place to purchase new shares and landsides, I would like to hear from you..

Thanks for your help,
Dick

Dick, I have 6 orange plows, and two IH plows (7--18's) they all work great, I get my parts from the Agco dealer and the CIH dealer. I have purchased parts from other people, but Have had the best luck with the dealers. Take a shin and share to him, he will know what they are. Is you plow mounted (snap-coupler) or does it have a tail wheel? If it came with the D-14 it could be 3--14's. The old WD-45 pulled 3--16's very well out here in Western Washington. Check with the nearest dealer, best results

Dear Oly,,
Yes, my plow is a snap-coupler plow. It's a three bottom with a tail wheel. I've taken off the third bottom and only using two bottoms. Here in Northwestern Oregon we don't have any AC dealers where I could get shares or landsides. Are there any in your area that I could call.. Others have answered my request with some dealers back east that I will try if I can't find anything close to home..

Thanks for the information,,
Dick

Never owned and orange plow, but love orange tractors. On IHC plows 16 shorts are the thing as a 14 long. Agco or TSC or some other sources like wiese or osmundson should have what you need.

You don't measure the shares, you measure the width between the parallel members of the plow frame- the members parallel to the direction of travel- should be either 14 or 16 inches, most likely. Especially if the plow came with the D14.

Thanks for the information JMS. That makes sense, but this brings to mind another question and maybe you can answer that. What if a person had a single bottom plow? How would he know what size of share to order? Also, would it be possible to measure from the rear of the landside to the rear of the share to determine the share size? It seems that that would be the amount of ground being cut by the share.. This is just a thought and I will let you correct me if I'm wrong.. Any ideas where I can get some shares that will fit my plow and how to assure that I order the right ones.
Thanks for your response,
Dick

Try Marshall's Machinery in Honesdale PA for plow points. They are an old AC dealer. Just purchased new plow points for a 1948 A/C 2 row bottom plow. They will ship

From an overhead view, you have just created a triangle, and it would make reasonable sense that you are correct in assuming the long side of the right angle is the width of cut- til some engineer sticks his nose into it and decides, maybe an 'overcut' share would help those farmers that can't plow in a straight line! Generally, the plowshare has the part number on the underside, well near the top where it will not get worn off before replacement time.
