Persian Orange 2 Paint Codes

I see in one of my books the following codes:
DuPont 29047
PPG DAR 60396

Anyone try these? Thoughts?

Here's a visual of the PPG 60396, at least compared with the Persian #1 (60080). Some information that I have gathered is also here. I cannot verify the DuPont numbers because I haven't actually tried them. From what I have seen of old book paint chips though, the 29047 is the Persian #2. Both DuPont and PPG now have relegated their non-automotive colors to their "economy" lines, for the most part. In PPG you would be looking at the OMNI line of urethanes and enamels. For enamels, the PPG price would be about $50 per gallon, not including reducer or hardener (if used). Urethane would be a little more plus it would require the hardener. Still less than $120 per gal though. You are unlikely to find any of the old DAR acrylic enamel. PPG has just about discontinued that (too bad) in favor of their higher end urethanes.

For the DuPont stuff you would be looking at their NASON "economy" line. I don't know the price there but would expect it to be competitive with PPGs OMNI. I also doubt that you would still find anyone to mix that particular color in Centari acrylic enamel (also too bad) for the same reasons as PPG with their DAR. If you decide to go with the NASON product, be very careful of the exact usage requirements. Get DuPont's technical data sheet for the actual product you intend to use. NASON is the only one that I know of that REQUIRES a hardener to be used in some of their enamels for proper drying.

It looks like the PPG 60396 is what I want, however, I am going to see if I can find someone to mix a little better paint.
