Power adjust rims

Can anyone tell me how to get the clamps loose on these. I would like to move the wheels in on my WD but so far all I have accomplised is to break two sockets. I was useing a breakover bar with a slight extension(3ft.)pipe. Can anyone help?

I just freed up the wheels on my CA. With the wheel laying on the ground, remove all the bolts holding the center to the clamps. With your sledge, one good solid hit should knock everything apart. Now you can press out the cam bolts. With a little antisieze on them, they will probably never get stuck again. Makes a neat demonstration. Brian

I agree with pressing the old cam bolt out. That is the only way you can really clean the rust out and apply anti seize compound.

i agree,with all but pressing the bolts out. i just did my wd s left wheel that,s why it made me notice.!!!lol i bought a breaker bar 3/4 " drive and a 6point socket to fit the bolt at napa. make sure it is an impact socket .they can generalyy handle the strain better. and the guy at napa said napa 's sockets are made by the same people who make the craftsman sockets for sears . hope this helps. oh and after heating the cast parts and NOT the bolt itself diectly i also used a cheater pipe on the breaker bar.

If they haven't been moved in 30-50 years you may need to unbolt them from the wheel to loosen them. Once they are off you can try heating the clamp with a torch or removing the retaining ring on the back and having the cam bolt pressed out. Once the cam bolt is removed the rust can be cleaned out of the bore and off the bolt. Before reassembly apply some anti-seize compound and the clamp will work freely for years to come!

I sprayed the camlocks on my D-14 with Kroil and let it soak for a couple of days then used a hammer on a breaker bar. It worked for me "Good Luck"
