May look into a d17. It supposedly has a "weak power shuttle". Is it a major repair? costly? Or should I keep looking?

My Operator's manual, for my 170, shows an optional shuttle clutch wich looks pretty like the power director level. The powewr director is located on the operator's right while the shuttle clutch is located on the left. I have not seen them but have been told that the shuttle was also on some of the D series tractors. Despite the major repair it might still be worthwhile to purchase this tractor if you plan on doing any loader work or any type work that would require very much stopping and backing up. I know sometimes when bushhoggin it would sure be handy to have when trimming around buildings and doing quite a bit of backing up into tight spots.

They must be referring to the Power Director, the hand clutch with high and low range and neutral. Need to split the tractor to replace the discs in it, and they are not cheap. Twenty some years ago, I think I spent about $450 for the parts, made my own splitting stands.
