I'm looking at buying an Allis Chalmers CA (not sure the year)with a bucket loader for a large scale composting operation. The tractor is in great shape but the hydraulic pump is in the rear and the loader only works when the tractor is moving. How difficult/$$ would it be to move the hydraulic pump from the rear off the transmission to the front of the engine? Does it take a different pump? Hard to find parts or converters? Will I have clearance issues with the loader and pump on the front? Any advice or feedback on this would be greatly appreciated.

I take it the CA does not have a hand clutch by the right rear wheel, and thus no live power? Some early ones were that way. You cannot move the existing pump, but you might be able to add a front-mounted pump, driving it with a shaft coupled to the crankshaft pulley (goes through where you would insert the hand crank). Might also be possible to rig up a belt drive from the front of the engiine, but the crankshaft drive would be more of a positive drive system. Many of them on WD, D17, etc.
