WD steering saftey warning

I just got to thinking about a year ago I was backing up very slowly with a snow blower on my WD. Without any warning the front wheels got a mind of there own like the little mother in law does sometimes. What happened is the pin that goes through the shaft near the steering U-joint broke. I did not hit anything, they were just worn pretty bad. May be a good idea to check yours, especially if you use road gear.

I was driving my friends WC on the road a few years ago when the pin fell out of the steering shaft at the knuckle-----having learned to drive on a WC I naturally pushed the clutch and worked the left brake to keep from entering the right road ditch. Sure makes one think what possibilities exist.

thanks for the warning.. anything can break. several years ago i was running a green tractor on a loader and when i pushed in the clutch something snapped and that was all. (turned out to be a 5/16 bolt in the clutch) i quick pulled the gearshift into nuetral and got it stopped but what if i had been backing up to hook on an impliment with a man standing on the ground. be careful guys
