WD45 wont start

I need some help from an expert on WD 45's. For the last six months my workhorse will not start, I started with the fuel system and cleaned it up. I then went to the electrical system. I installed new wires, plugs, points.. etc.I thought it would crank right up, no luck, the problem seems to be with the ignition coil, although it is getting juice, it does not return a spark. The coil is new and does work on my truck. The tractor has a 12 volt system and I have correctly replaced the wires as they were, hot wire to coil(+). Neg going through the resistor and on to the distibutor casing. Noluck. I need help.

Mark,
A couple of things to check 1. With the cap, rotor and dust cover off and the points closed with the ignition switch on, pry open the points. There should be a spark. If not
2. Short across the points. There should be a spark. If not, go the coil and check for voltage. If you get a spark shorting across the points and no spark when just prying them opem then the points are dirty or burned or possibly the condensor is bad.
As Steve said, if the coil has a internal resister and an additional resister is installed the voltage could be too low to provide any spark. Duey

Mark, Temporarily take the resistor out of the system and run a wire to the distributor and see if it will fire off. If it does, the resistor is shot. Also, make sure the coil is one to be used with an external resistor. Two quick things to check....Get back.
