I'm having problems timing my WD after changing to a distributor. The answer by Duey(IA) will greatly help. My question is what to do with the kill switch? Do I just connect that to the distributor or do I have to do something further?
Also is there any way to check to see if a coil is good? Thanks

Jim,
You will have to change the switch. You need a two post on/off switch and install a wire from the amp gauge to the switch to provide power to the coil. Also the coil should be able to be tested by your automotive parts store. Our local NAPA store has a shop that does this. Duey
