Anybody know how hard it is to resleeve a '43 B?
I can get a deal on the tractor, but I don't know if it's worth it.

Be sure to mark the sleeves so you put them back in the same position they were when they came out...if you are simply redoing old sleeves. Clean the block VERY well before putting in sleeves, inside and out. Oil the o-rings (if there are any...I've never done a B, just WCs) with Murphy's Oil Soap before sliding the sleeve in.

Not that bad of a job if you have or have access to the proper tools. Takes a half day to tear down and after all the parts are in hand about another half day to a day to reassemble. You can plan on a couple of days getting the block and parts cleaned and preped for assembly. While waiting for parts and the crankshaft to be ground the head can be out to a machine shop for the valves to be ground. If you have not shimed bearings for proper clearance before, it can be a bottle neck and sop up a bunch of time.

Mike, Not tough at all if you have the right tool. A sleeve removal tool is the ticket! I had a little tougher time getting the pistons out of my 48' B than getting the sleeves out. My engine as full of water, but once I got the pistons to move and got them out, all four sleeves were out in 15 minutes with the tool. I borrowed the tool I used from work, but you can either make one or rent one from a tool rental. The cussin' was very minimal.... LOL!

the sleeves are wet, they do not press or shrink fit. they should drop freely in the hole, or tap gently, without the o-rings. if they dont, you need to sand down and clean the bore lands at the bottom. once they slide in, install o-rings and "push" into position. they stick up a few thousands above the block, and head and gasket seal them down.

before putting the sleeves in- leave em in the freezer overnight- they shrink a little
