On most B's I have seen, there is an oil line that goes to the governor. On mine there is no line but, there is a brass nut that comes off so I can drip some oil down it before startup and every few hours.
Is this correct? did the early B's not have the oil line or is mine wrong?
The governor works good.
This is supposed to be a 38 B,except where the transmission stamp is,it's blank?Replacement torque tube I guess.
It is a hand crank, hand brake,no hydraulics,no electrics model so I'm assuming it's an early one.
Any ideas on how often I should oil the Gov.?
And,where is the engine block Ser. number located-and would this number be the same as the number that should be stamped on the transmission?
Thanks,
HB

The 38's didn't have the oil line to the governor. The serial numbers on the engine and transmission were not matching. The engine serial numbers on the 38's were on the rear as in the attached picture.

the early B's did not have an oil line to the governor. I don't know when or why the change was made. Tom Davison (PA)
