First D 17

This is the first D 17 Ive had . In fact the last tractor I had was 40 years ago. On a D 17 series 3 there is a leaver behind your right foot. Can some one tell me what it is or what its for. Sounds dumb I know, BUT?

Follow it back- it should go to the snap-coupler bell, and is used to release the hitch or mounted implement. Does the same thing as the lever and chain on the WD45.
