I need to pull the crankshaft pulley on my Allis D-14, which seems pretty straightforward, but when I reinstall it on the crankshaft do I risk damaging the bearings and / or the front and rear seals by driving the pulley back on the shaft. It is attached by a set screw and woodruff key. Should I heat the pulley in the oven in order to make it mount easier. I am reluctant to start driving the pulley back on the shaft for fear of damaging the front and rear seals, and possibly the bearings.

heating it up will make a huge difference, if it requires only light tapping to install you will not hurt anything. Be shure to completely REMOVE the setscrew before you pull it off as the setscrew can catch on the key and you will crack the pulley. HTH, Lee
