I recently had a tune up done and was doing some early season mowing. As I went thru some very heavy grass the tractor started to bog down very quickly. I pushed in the clutch just before the tractor started to die. The tractor didn't die but started missing severly and would barely run. IF I backed off the throttle at all it would die but with the throttle wide open it would run so rough that the tractor would barley move. WHAT HAPPENED? and what do I need to do to fix it?

Start by resetting the points and make sure the breaker plate isn't moving around.

Check the points. I had my "C" do that and the points were loose. I took the gas tank off, cleaned and sealed it, went throught carb about
5 times before we found the points problem. The screw that holds the gap was loose and that
caused all the problems.

Also could be dirt in the carburator broke loose when got into hard pull. Might have to clean and rebuild carb.
