According to the amp meter, my battery is not charging on my WD-45. I had
the generator spun and it tested out good. They suspected that the light
switch is probably bad but indicated they cannot be purchased anymore.
Does anyone have any other ideas of what else could be the problem, or
have a new old stock light switch in box for sale.

Dave, I rebuild/restore the OEM Headlight/Charging switches. If interested they run $40 exchange w/o knob, $45. w/knob. If you already purchased the aftermarket one, I buy the old switches....

Dave,
Your generator will not charge if the gauge and switch box is not grounded. The resister on the light switch is what controls the charge rate and it can not work unless grounded. Duey

Did you check the fuse on the backside of the switch? I thought I needed a new one too, but just took the old one out, cleaned it completely up, and it works great now. Check the archives at left for sources. I think Norm at Sandy Lake Implements have them too, now.

The fuse on the back side of the switch is only for the lighting circuit. It has nothing to do with the charging circuit.
