Ac D-9 hydraulics

My friend has a '53 ac D-9 (he thinks)and the rear lift arms are sluggish. He wants to change the oil but not sure want kind of oil is right. can anybody help. He's not sure if and when the oil was ever changed.

'53 AC D-9? You really need to know the model to get any help. Main models in 1953 were the CA and WD45. About 1963 they had the D19. Can you get a picture, either for us or the AC (Now AGCO) dealer to help ID it? WD45 has a serial number on the left side of the differential housing. D19 serial number should be on the clutch housing, left side, rear of, not on the, engine. Any number on the engine block itself is NOT the tractor serial number.

frito the ser# on a d19 is behind the seat on top of the housing.
