How many quarts does a Model C Allis take if you change the filter? What kind and weight of oil should be used? Detergent or non-detergent?

Jim, I have the original specs page up on the web on my website (link below) that will help for most of the fluid capacities and so forth. I use 30w Havoline in mine here in SC, also figure 10w30 would be good here (probably have to since I hear 30w Havoline is on the way out with the recnt merger to Shell). Your climate will go a long way in determining what grade you use.

about 4.5 quarts of detergent motor oil. Can use 10W-30 year round or else use #10 in winter and #30 in summer. Any brand will do. Use what's least expensive. Now, this will start a big argument concerning detergent or non-detergent motor oil, but in my opinion, use the detergent. Get the dirt out of that engine!
